Things are on the up at CSSC. Last year's third place outdoor was followed up by a second place in the winter indoor league. Team management was so delighted with this trajectory that it decided to stand pat on the roster in a what is either a vote of confidence in the current roster or outrageous complacency. CSSC reluctantly had to part with rocket fast defender and post game drinking champion Matt Brett, but when a big money squad from Montreal backed a dump truck of money up to our door we had to agree to their very generous terms. While Matt is more or less irreplaceable, CSSC has the luxury of three returning veteran defenders to step in and replace him. Andrew Woolford, Greg Hodges and Mark Meuwese have been signed to full time contracts after impressing last season in a call up role. In addition Mark Hudson is returning to the squad after long term injury. If he can regain the form that earned him the nick name The Roy Keane of the Prairies, it'll be like a big money signing of our own. Such was the depth of numbers in the squad that management chose not to pick up the pricey contract of proven ace striker Kevin Dick.
Will management's confidence in CSSC's playing staff be well founded? Would a couple of big money signings to strengthen a few key areas been a good move? Find out the 2018 match reports.
